Sunday School

 

9:15 a.m.

Children

Classes are offered to persons of all ages from 18 months to adult, with a nursery available for those 18 months and under.

Our children begin each week with Jesus Jammers, a sing time offered every Sunday from 9:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Children's Department. This is for children 19 months to 5th grade.  After Jesus Jammers, the children are dismissed with their teachers to Sunday School.

Nursery - 5th Grade - These classes teach children about the love of Jesus and the wonders of God's creation. Classes meet in the Children's Department in the  Family Life Center.

Youth

6th - 12th Grade - Bible based curriculum studies that are current and on target for youth. These classes meet in the Youth Building (Gym).

Young Adults

Young Adults (18 - 30) - Bible based curriculum studies that are current and on target for young adults. This class meets downstairs in the Sanctuary Bulding.

Adults

At Bright Star we have a number of adult classes to choose from.  Whether you know the Bible from cover to cover or are completely new to this whole church thing, there is a place for you here!

Alvord - Members study the Adult Lesson Series of the United Methodist Church. Bill Murphy is the teacher who leads the time of learning. Members volunteer their time in Clean Up Douglas and in Vacation Bible School as well as supporting the Bright Star United Methodist Scholarship Fund and several mission projects. This class meets downstairs in the Sanctuary Building.

Searchers - The Bible is the text for this class of 40 and 50 year olds. Class discussion and prayer focuses on deeper understanding of God's will for us through the study of His Word. They encourage Christian growth and maturity. This class meets downstairs in the Sanctuary Building.

Agape - This class is made up of those around 60 and up and led most of the time by Rosemary Parker.  This class meets downstairs in the Sanctuary Building.

New Covenant - Richard Jacobus and others lead this upbeat, open-minded, candid and challenging class as they study. Discussion is greatly encouraged in this 30 - 50 age group. This class meets in the main room in Driskell Hall.

Upper Room - Studying the International Lesson series this group of senior adults grows together in love and fellowship each Sunday. Louise Thrift has been teacher for several years. Members have taken the homebound ministry as their mission. The Upper Rom meets in Classroom 3 in Driskell Hal
