Bright Star has many opportunities for praising the Lord through the gift of music. The Minister of Music/Drama Katie Plumley is always happy to talk to anyone about the benefits and joys of being a part of the music ministry at Bright Star. If you are interested in becoming involved just contact her or one of her staff of volunteers and they will place you where you sing or ring your heart out for Jesus. Opportunities to Praise: Chancel Ensemble … The 8:30 worship celebration has a "pick-up" choir. If you like to sing and have the gifts to share, we welcome you at 8:00 a.m. in the Music Room on Sunday morning for a brief rehearsal and then to sing with us at the 8:30 worship celebration. Jesus Jammers … our smaller children meet each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. are led by members of our youth group who teach the basic songs of the faith from Jesus Loves Me to Deep and Wide. All children ages 18 months up to the 3^rd grade are welcome to join in before going to Sunday School. A New Voice… our youth choir sings every 4th Sunday at the 8:30 and 11:00 worship celebrations. Under the direction of Katie Plumley, they practice on Sundays at 4:00P.M. in the Sanctuary. Small Wonders … made up of the smaller folk of Bright Star is our children’s choir. Ages Kindergarten through 5th Grade meet weekly to learn and to share the gift of music. Small Wonders shares their talent every 1st Sunday at the 8:30 and the 11:00 worship celebrations in the sanctuary. Katie Plumley and Melissa Glidden serve as co-directors. Rehearsals are each Wednesday at 6:30 in the Music Room. Chime Choir .. a beginning choir for young children interested in moving up to handbells. This group is led by Glynette Lanier and meets each Wednesday in the Children's Ministry department to rehearse at 6:00. Open to all 3rd - 5th graders. Bright Star Praise Band … is currently forming and will be responsible for the music for the new service we will be starting in the theatre in January 2008. Singers/musicians are encouraged to contact Katie Plumley at Katie@brightstarumc.org. Chancel Choir … meet weekly to prepare for the Sunday worship celebration. The group is made up of adults who love to sing and praise God. Musicals and special concerts highlight the year for this group under the direction of Mr. Ivan Winslett.
