Psalm
100: 2-5
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come
before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the
sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with
praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and
his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all
generations.

Services
at Bright Star United Methodist Church offer inspirational
sermons, heartening music and an opportunity for worshippers to celebrate
and respond to God's love and give thanks for the gift of His Son.
Three unique worship
celebrations are offered at Bright Star each Sunday. We have a(n)
(1) Southern Gospel
style service at 8:30 am in the sanctuary
(2) Traditional style of service at
11:00 am in the sanctuary
Children
attending the 8:30 a.m. or the 11:00 a.m. traditional services are invited to join the pastor for the
Children's Parable where the pastor will share the gospel in language that
the children will find enjoyable and yet challenging. Following this special time, children may return to
their seats or, be escorted to their classrooms for special programs.
Children's church is available for those in Kindergarten to 2nd grade on
the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Sundays of each month only. Children's Church
will NOT be offered on the last Sunday of EACH month.
Holy
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at the 8:30 and
11:00 sanctuary services. Seasonal services of worship are held during
Lent, Advent and Christmas.
CHURCH
MEMBERSHIP
Members of
Bright Star invite and welcome all persons who profess their faith in Jesus
Christ as Savior and Lord to become members of the church. You may join the
church upon your profession of faith or by transferring your membership
from another church. Anyone wishing to become a member of Bright Star, or
desiring information about the process of becoming a member, is urged to
contact one of the pastors.
OPPORTUNITIES TO
SERVE DURING WORSHIP
Lay Readers...are members of the congregation who take
part in the worship service by offering the invocation and offertory
prayer.
Ushers...serve one month at a
time, facilitating worship services and collecting the offering. All
members are welcome to take part.
Greeters...welcome visitors and
members entering the church, directing them to Sunday School classes,
nurseries or answering questions.
Acolytes...light the altar candles, lead
the processional and assist the pastors at the 8:30 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m.
sanctuary services. Our younger members in grades 3 - 12 are welcome to
participate, following training by the acolyte leader. This is a meaningful
way for children and youth to learn the symbolism of the church and our
faith.
Sound
Technicians...operate the sound system during worship services, as
well as taping the service for outreach programs. Training sessions on
operating the equipment are offered periodically.
If you are
interested in serving in one of these areas, contact the church office via email or call (770) 949-2555.
